A Minooka man was arrested Friday night after an incident at the Grundy County Corn Festival. Police say 21-year-old Anthony Zaragoza displayed a knife in a threatening manner in the 100 block of West Washington Street. Officers report that Zaragoza also was armed with a loaded firearm and brass knuckles. He was taken to the Grundy County Jail. Zaragoza appeared in court on Saturday. He's been held.

No real threat. That's what Ottawa High School Superintendent Dr. Michael Cushing is saying in response to social-media posts that have spread a rumor of a threat to the school in the coming days. As reported by WLPO News Wednesday morning, La Salle County has been added to a list of counties whose grant money is on hold from the state until its latest required audit is done. County Finance Committee Chairman Brian Dose, a Democrat who's running for County Board Chairman, raised the issue at Tuesday's regular committee meeting. He expressed frustration that the board had been informed of the delay, not from the county auditor's office, but from the county's newly-hired outside auditing firm, well after the September 1 submission deadline. Dose also said that, according to the former auditing firm, Republican County Auditor Stephanie Thompson is not maintaining a monthly general ledger and trial balance of grant funds controlled by the county.
