TROY, Vermont (Wednesday, July 17, 2024) — A Vermont Superior Court judge Wednesday afternoon signed an arrest warrant for Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith, 24, of Hartford, Connecticut, arising from the Feb. 2 shooting death of Kayla Wright. The warrant approved by Judge Rory Thibault is for a charge of first-degree murder and carries a bail amount of $250,000. On Friday, July 19, 2024, at approximately 4:28 a.m. , the Wheelock Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 31 Blakely Road, VT, the old, abandoned Wheelock schoolhouse. The Wheelock Fire Department responded to the scene and found the structure fully involved. Fire suppression efforts were isolated to an exterior attack due to the stability of the structure. At about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Vermont State Police was notified of a burglary at a residence on Pine Street in the town of North Troy. A trooper met with the complainants at the residence and learned a safe was removed and broken into, and a person was cashing stolen checks at a local bank.
