On 29 May, the Ministry of Commerce of China held a regular press conference. During the session, a reporter raised the subject of the EU’s anti-dumping investigation into car and light truck tyres made in China.He Yongqian, the Ministry of Commerce spokesperson, responded: “We have noticed the anti-dumping investigation launched by the EU on Chinese passenger car and light truck tyre products, and China is highly concerned about this.”

Jiangsu General’s revenue and net profit in 2024 were 6.96 billion yuan (about £720 million; €850 million) and 370 million yuan (about £38 million; €45 million) respectively, both of which showed a significant increase year-on-year. The tyre manufacturer attributed the substantial increase in net profit to the macro-level “increase in production and sales in the automotive industry and upward demand in the overseas tyre market” and the micro-level Jiangsu General’s “global marketing network layout, optimisation of production capacity structure, and continuous promotion of lean production”.

Continental reports that its Indian factories will focus on the passenger car and light truck tyre (PLT) segment while stopping truck and bus radial tyre (TBR) production.Affected by this, Continental’s plant in Modipuram, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India, will stop producing TBR products in June 2025. The tyre manufacturer said the TBR field is highly competitive and price-sensitive, and “sustaining long-term value from Continental’s premium offerings has been a significant challenge”.

The analysis follows the publication of the 2024 annual reports of the country's leading listed tyre companies. With ZC Rubber officially listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2025, the number of tyre companies on this list has reached 11, namely ZC Rubber, Sailun, Linglong, Triangle, Double Coin (a subsidiary of Huayi), Aeolus, Jiangsu General, Prinx Chengshan, Sentury, Guizhou Tyre and Qingdao Doublestar.

On 17 June, Jiangsu General reported that the share transfer between HOdo Group and Jiangsu SOHO Holdings had completed the transfer registration procedure and received its “Transfer Registration Confirmation”. Thus, Jiangsu SOHO Holdings officially became the controlling shareholder of Jiangsu General. Because Jiangsu SOHO Holdings is a state-owned enterprise, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Jiangsu Provincial Government became the actual controller of Jiangsu General.
