Through all that, the Twins still had the opportunity to snatch the series from San Francisco today.
Twenty years ago—2004—the All-Star Game fell flat. Held at Minute Maid Park in Houston, the American League torched National League starter Roger Clemens (tee-hee!) for 6 runs and won going-away 9-4. Joe Nathan was the only rep for your Minnesota Twins, pitching a perfect 7th by retiring Bobby Abreu (PHI), Mike Lowell (FLA), and Miguel Cabrera (FLA).
For pretty much all of 2023, I proclaimed to friends and family alike that the Pablo Lopez-for-Luis Arraez swap was going to pay off for the Minnesota Twins.
