BAR HARBOR — At a meeting on Monday, Aug. 3, the warrant committee approved the addition of two new members to fill vacant seats for the remainder of this term. The new members will replace Bailey Stillman, who resigned, and Bob Chaplin, who died in April.

AUGUSTA — Maine’s Public Utilities Commission, the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the rates charged to customers, has launched an investigation into the Bar Harbor Water Division following its recent rate increase that took effect April 1. The purpose of the investigation, according to the Notice of Investigation posted Aug. 4, is to “address whether the Division’s rate structure is just and reasonable.”

BAR HARBOR — The water and wastewater budgets for Fiscal Year 2027 were unveiled on Tuesday, Aug. 4, when town staff presented the spending plans to members of the council. The budgets, which both contain anticipated revenue increases to cover projected increases in operating costs, will now head to a public hearing on Aug. 18 before a final vote on approval by the council.
