Governor Candidate Amy Acton (D-OH) tells reporters American healthcare should be "top-notch." Acton, a medical doctor, says she is mostly worried about Medicaid cuts going into effect in January 2027. "That's something I'm gonna be effectively pushing back on, and I won't be alone, I will be working alongside governors of both parties in every state," she says after a healthcare roundtable in Steubenville, OH. "I want to see all issues of healthcare be top-notch, you know, I think it's very, very important that we do rely on science and do rely on the best practices," she continues as she details her collaboration with state and federal officials during her time as Ohio's Director of Health.

Recently appointed Sen. Darline Graham (R-SC) tells reporters her decades-long work as a public administrator for the state is good experience as she tries to win over voters in a special primary election to replace her brother, Lindsey Graham, who died suddenly last month. "I turned it from a struggling agency into a national model, I think that's great experience to bring to the table, critical thinking skills, ability to lead, and making good decisions," she says after casting her primary ballot. The senator also says she has accomplished "a lot" since her appointment to the Senate, including the passing of the Russia-Iran sanctions bill and getting Attorney General nominee Todd Blanche confirmed.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) calls for the ICE detention center, Delaney Hall, in Newark, NJ, to be shutdown, saying it is "un-American." Jeffries, who was speaking to reporters after visiting the center, says he saw no medical care for detainees, including for pregnant women, and that the food being offered to detainees was rancid. "The activity that we've continued to learn about is unacceptable, unconscionable, and un-American, which is why dramatic change is necessary in this country with respect to the manner in which immigration enforcement is taking place. We do need comprehensive immigration reform," he says.
