CNN data analyst Harry Enten reports Democrats are more dissatisfied with the party than when President Joe Biden was the nominee in the summer of 2024. Enten said Democrats aren't sure what direction they want the party to go; 28% want the party to move left, 47% want the party to move to the center."So the Democratic Party, according to Democratic voters, well, their pissed-offness, if I could say that, has never been higher," Enten summarized the polling.KATE BOLDUAN, CNN ANCHOR: Six states holding primaries today, sure to shape the midterms ahead. We are following several races in the Senate specifically with the primaries. This week, will give Democrats a good look, a first look at the candidates who will be fighting to help their party win back that chamber come November. So what message are voters going to send? CNN's Harry Enten running the numbers for you. And he's here with us now. Hello. Democrats are hoping to win control once again. How does the party feel about Democrats right now?HARRY ENTEN, CNN SENIOR DATA REPORTER: Yes, the Democratic base is very much divided. Take a chap right down the middle, and they are very dissatisfied with the direction the party is going, and you can see it right here because this is, I mean, hello, Democrats who are satisfied with the Dem party in 2026. It's only about 46 percent, 52 percent are dissatisfied. They're dissatisfied. This is Democrats. This is Democrats who are dissatisfied with their own party. The majority.Now I want to put this into some context for you, which was Joe Biden back in 2024 put in arguably the worst presidential debate I have ever seen, ever seen. And yet 53 percent of Democrats were actually satisfied with Biden as the nominee. After that debate, the majority were satisfied, and yet today a lower percentage, 46 percent, are actually satisfied with the party. So the Democratic Party, according to Democratic voters, well, their pissed offness, if I could say that, has never been higher.BOLDUAN: That is a fascinating, fascinating comparison. That really is. Yes.ENTEN: It really puts it into context just how upset Democrats are right now.BOLDUAN: OK, so how upset are they? How do Democrats feel about Democrats in Congress specifically?ENTEN: Yes, I feel like we're turning in "The Tonight Show" here. OK, how upset are they in Congress, right? So you see this 46 percent who are satisfied with the party, the majority who are dissatisfied with the party. Again, this 46 percent lower than they were satisfied with Biden as the nominee after the worst debate performance of all time. And you can just see it right here. I mean, Democrats, net approval of congressional Democrats.Look at this. In October of 2025, right, during that shutdown, that first shutdown, plus 22 points on the net approval rating. So Democrats, OK, fairly satisfied with Democrats in Congress. Today, though, look at that. That is an over 30-point drop, a decline right into the ocean right there, minus nine points. And I will note it had never been negative. Democrats have always had a positive net approval rating of their own party in Congress in every Congress before this one. But now what we're seeing is consistent numbers across the board where Democrats are underwater. Congressional Democrats are underwater with their own party.And that's why I think these primaries are going to be so interesting, because they're going to tell us, OK, which way do Democrats want their party to go? How upset are they?BOLDUAN: But that's the question. Is there -- are there signs of -- that this reflects, we want you to be more left or more center or more right?ENTEN: Yes, this is the big problem, which is Democrats aren't sure what direction they want their party to go. Democrats want their party to move left, 28 percent. Not move at all, 18 percent. Move center, 47 percent. This is a party divide where they're not actually giving a clear message of where they want their party to go.The one thing I will say is 61 percent of all voters want their party to move to the center. So if all of a sudden Democrats are actually going to move to the left, which is not what their party wants, that will actually upset the rest of the electorate. The only thing that really unites Democrats right now is they are very upset with Donald Trump.

Former U.S. State Department Deputy Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs John Teichert called on President Trump to resume kinetic military activities against Iran.JESSE WATTERS, FOX NEWS: John Teichert is the former deputy undersecretary of foreign affairs and former senior defense attache in the Middle East. Okay, so tonight a lot of action. Missiles, drones being intercepted by US missile defense.But the Iranians, you know, still kind of squirrely. What do you think?JOHN TEICHERT, FORMER DEPUTY UNDERSECRETARY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS: Jesse, every time we've seen one of these cycles, this is the fourth one of these in the last week and a half, I firmly believe that it's Iran testing us in how we will respond. And in each case we've been minimalist in our response. We've claimed over and above that the response is defensive in nature. And I think the only way we break that cycle is by using language that they understand, which is strength, capability, will, and resolve. And it's about time to re-engage in kinetic activities against Iran.WATTERS: So you think drop the ceasefire, finish off the target list?TEICHERT: Jesse, I actually think that the first six weeks of operations against Iran were at the operational level. That we never really focused our strikes on the heart of the regime. And I think once President Trump realizes that Iran is going to continue to act and negotiate in bad faith, then now we take the strikes to the heart of the regime. The things that keep them in power, the things they value most. And I think that changes the strategic calculus and returns the initiative to us.WATTERS: So you would focus on regime collapse through a full-blown aerial assault. You don't think the naval blockade, if you give it patience, would do the trick?TEICHERT: Jesse, I do think that the blockade has been massively effective. I wish we would have started six weeks prior when we started combat operations. But it's a bit of a race against the clock in whether the regime reaches its tipping point first because of the pressure of the blockade, or the President of the United States reaches his tipping point because of domestic and international pressure. But the way that you accelerate that clock in our favor is to return to kinetic activity again at the strategic level.WATTERS: When you hear that the gay ayatollah is alive and kicking, well kicking with one leg, he only has one leg. And Rubio says he's reengaging. How do you interpret that?TEICHERT: Jesse, I'm pretty clear that you're not winning a war when eight weeks into the ceasefire and the leader won't even show his face in public. But I do believe that the IRGC and the hardliners are trying to consolidate their power in Iran. They're the ones that have the guns and know how to use them.They're the ones that are the vanguard of the revolution, and they're the only ones I think that are talking to the supreme leader. And I think that the way you get their attention is through those strategic strikes that I recommended.

Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clashed during a heated House hearing over the Trump administration's handling of Venezuelan oil revenues, transparency, and alleged conflicts of interest. Kamlager-Dove questioned Rubio about Mauricio Claver-Carone's role in Venezuela-related deals, while Rubio pushed back against corruption allegations and accused lawmakers of making defamatory claims without allowing him time to respond.REP. SYDNEY KAMLAGER-DOVE (D-CA): So, Mr. Secretary, five months ago, you essentially became the new overlord of Venezuela, taking control of the country's oil revenues and giving foreign companies access to its oil and minerals. But you have provided no real transparency about where the money is going and who is benefiting from this arrangement. I want to now talk a little bit about Mauricio Claver Carone.So, Mr. Secretary, you've known Mr. Claver Carone for many years, correct?SECRETARY OF STATE MARCO RUBIO: I don't know how many years, but sure.KAMLAGER-DOVE: Okay. We know that he was special envoy to Latin America. He's also a former lobbyist who supported your presidential campaign, I think in 2016.And now he runs a private equity firm that is seeking $1 billion in investments in Latin America. Apparently, he is seen as your right-hand man on Venezuela, but he's not a federal employee and he's not bound by rules about financial disclosures or conflict of interest. According to the Washington Post, he acts like a kingmaker in Venezuela, helping to determine which private companies get contracts and access.And that's concerning because in January, you gave confidential licenses for Venezuelan oil to a company that had been charged with bribery by the Department of Justice and employs a trader who gave $6 million to Trump's campaign. Some have said that Mauricio is the Jared Kushner of Latin America, but Mauricio has said that Jared Kushner is the Mauricio of the Middle East. So who is Mauricio and why is he riding on private jets to Caracas with executives from firms trying to get contracts?And why is he texting Delce Rodriguez on the regular? Who is he working for?RUBIO: I --KAMLAGER-DOVE: I'm going to allow you to respond.I'm setting this up because it looks unseemly that essentially you are taking Venezuelan oil money and sending it through a network of campaign donors, corrupt politicians, lobbyists, and we can't get any documentation on that. We don't have any receipts. So the question is, is anyone from the administration directly or indirectly benefiting from the contracts being doled out in Venezuela?RUBIO: Is this where I get the answer?KAMLAGER-DOVE: Yes.RUBIO: Okay, perfect. Number one is the number of people, Mauricio is one of many people that are involved in what's happening in Venezuela. It's not a day that goes by that we don't have someone who's interested in what's happening in Venezuela for a variety of reasons.Nor is he the only person in the United States that directly contacts Delce Rodriguez and others. There is a stampede of people that want to be involved in Venezuela. Mauricio is one of many, but by the way, not involved in Venezuela.I am not knowledgeable or know of any financial links he has to anybody in Venezuela.KAMLAGER-DOVE: I'm going to reclaim my time, Mr. Secretary, but I'm glad that you said that because you have said these things. You have shared these talking points before. But it is hard to take your word for it when this is the most corrupt administration in American history.RUBIO: Well, that's your opinion.KAMLAGER-DOVE: We're talking pardons for sale. We're talking about no bid contracts to those on Trump's family and friends plan. We're talking about a $1.8 billion slush fund. And I think that's corruption. The American people think that's corruption. They want to know if you think that's corruption.RUBIO: Okay. Number two, this goes right to the point of transparency. You're absolutely wrong about the way the money flows. It's pretty straightforward. And I'll share.KAMLAGER-DOVE: I'm going to have to reclaim my time again.RUBIO: What kind of process is this? They get to ask questions and I don't get to answer?KAMLAGER-DOVE: It's my time. The question about corruption is really important.RUBIO: So why am I here if I don't get to answer your questions or your defamatory statements?KAMLAGER-DOVE: Reclaiming my time, Mr. Chair.RUBIO: But I want to reclaim. Well, do I get time? Because you make these defamatory statements and no one can talk here. This is crazy.KAMLAGER-DOVE: If you can't call out corruption in this country, then how can you call it out in another?RUBIO: Well, I can't say anything. You won't let me speak.KAMLAGER-DOVE: It is about credibility and your credibility and your credibility meter is on empty right now. This oil, these guys who determines the barrels of oil that gets what?[CROSSTALK]RUBIO: You won't let me answer your question. I have an answer for your question.KAMLAGER-DOVE: Where is it going?[CROSSTALK]KAMLAGER-DOVE: The onus is on you to prove that there is no corruption happening.RUBIO: How do I prove it? That's the transparency.RUBIO: You just don't know where to look.KAMLAGER-DOVE: But you're not showing us any receipts. Well, then show us. Do you commit to coming back here with whoever the person is who is monitoring the sales of the oil? Bring them before this committee.RUBIO: Can I reclaim my time?KAMLAGER-DOVE: Show the receipts. Have the documentation. You don't have this time yet. I am talking about your credibility and evidence, not your talking points, because talking points are never a replacement for transparency.RUBIO: I agree, but that's what you're saying. You're saying talking points without an answer.KAMLAGER-DOVE: We are five months into this and no audits. Zero visibility into the contracts that are awarded.RUBIO: 100% false.CHAIRMAN: Zero transparency about where the money is going. Unfortunately, Representative's time has expired. Representative Salazar is recognized.KAMLAGER-DOVE: And giving contracts with no transparency is exactly the reason why you shut down USAID. So practice what you preach. It's not a hearing.CONGRESSMAN: I think you said clown show before.RUBIO: It's like a dunk tank. What is this?SALAZAR: I don't have to tell you. I'll give you time.RUBIO: How can I answer the question? They don't even give me time.

Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) questioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday on why he believes Iran is losing the war at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing.REP. SARA JACOBS (D-CA): I'd like to talk about the war in Iran. Yesterday, in your Senate testimony, you told Senator Booker that the war in Iran is over. This is news to me.It's also news to my 2,500 constituents, Marines, San Diego Marines in the Middle East off the coast of Iran, the other of my constituents who are deployed there, and the thousands more of my constituents who have 48-hour deployment notices whose families are still very concerned. But OK, I will take you at your word if the war is over. I have a simple question. Who won?SECRETARY OF STATE MARCO RUBIO: First of all, Epic Fury is over, which is what you would consider the war. That operation is concluded.JACOBS: So you agree it's a war, then?RUBIO: No, those are hostilities. They called it a war. I'm just responding to Senator Booker's question.JACOBS: Mr. Secretary, you can change the name of the operation. It doesn't change the fact that the Strait is still closed and my service members and all of our service members are still in harm's way. The war is not over. But I'm agreeing with you. OK, fine, we're taking you at your word. The war is over. Who won?RUBIO: Well, first of all, you're not taking me at my word. It's a fact. We're no longer conducting sustained strikes inside of Iran to degrade their military because Epic Fury is over. The second point is, on the question of who won, I can tell you this. We defined victory. We defined victory as destroying their defense industrial base, significantly reducing the number of missile launchers that they possess, significantly reducing their stockpile of drones.And we achieved all of those in addition to destroying what they had left of an Air Force and wiping out their entire conventional Navy. Those are all gone. So I consider that victory, and we did, too. And that was the purpose of Epic Fury.JACOBS: OK, well, good. Based on the metrics that you just said, OK, there's actually our intelligence community has said that Iran is reconstituting its military industrial base faster than we had predicted. And analysts assess it still holds roughly 70% of its missile stockpile and 70% of its mobile launchers.The Strait of Hormuz was open before the war. It is now closed. We have lost 14 brave American service members.Over 400 are injured. And the Iranian regime remains largely intact, but now with a more hardline leader who has more incentive to try and get a nuclear weapon. So I guess I have to ask you again, Mr. Secretary, does this actually look like winning or losing to you?RUBIO: Well, first of all, I don't know what intelligence assessments you're referring to. We wouldn't discuss intelligence assessments if they were real.JACOBS: These have been publicly reported.RUBIO: Well, if they're publicly reported, someone committed a crime and, by the way, is also lying. And this happens all the time. People manipulate intelligence and analysis for purposes of furthering a narrative.On your point about the regime, the regime is actually deeply fractured, which is why it takes seven to 10 gays to get an answer from them for anything. Meanwhile, they have- Fractured, but still intact. Well, intact even reach agreements that they can get back to us.So that's, I don't know how intact that is. What they have is people that are afraid to go into the streets. Their oppressive operations have held people back in addition to the fact they've cut off the internet.But this is a country right now in this regime that is facing hyperinflation, a completely devalued currency, hundreds of billions of dollars in damage to their military infrastructure. And frankly, all of the preexisting problems that Iran had in their economy, which is why people were protesting, are worse, not better. And they have to deal with that, too.JACOBS: Mr. Secretary, so you're saying we're winning because the Iranian economy has inflation, it's cost them millions of dollars a day in lost revenue, and because it's going to cost them billions of dollars to rebuild. Well, we are having inflation. It's already cost us an estimated $100 billion.Gas prices are up with no end in sight. The average family is paying an extra $450 on gas and could pay an extra $2,000 by the end of the year. The American people are not stupid, Mr. Secretary. We all know that this war is not over. Just last night, the US and Iran exchanged fire again, this time over Karg Island. We still have not reached a deal, despite the president's promise that a deal is right around the corner.The president even said today the blockade could last until Labor Day. It's now day 97 of the war that the president said he wanted to end quickly. So I have one last question for you. Mr. Secretary, who won the 2020 presidential election?RUBIO: I'm not here to answer a question about 2020. This is a Foreign Affairs Committee.JACOBS: Okay, great. You can't answer the question, even though we all know that President Biden won.RUBIO: I don't answer the question because as Secretary of State, I do not participate in domestic political issues.JACOBS: This is not about domestic political issues.RUBIO: It certainlhy is.JACOBS: This is about our democracy.RUBIO: You're asking me to opine, just like I don't do campaign rallies, I don't do because as Secretary of State, we're not supposed to. That's been the long tradition of the department. And you should know that if you've been on this committee for any period of time.JACOBS: Mr. Secretary, it seems like you have an issue admitting facts. You can't say that the president lost the 2020 election, just like you won't admit President Trump is losing this reckless war of choice. And just like you couldn't admit that the shoes the president bought you were too big.You clearly don't know what winning means. And not because the facts are unclear to you, it's because telling the truth would cost you your job. And the American people are entitled to a Secretary of State who tells them the truth, even when the president doesn't want to hear it.And my constituents, our service members deserve better. In an interview with CNBC's Sara Eisen, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu gave his side of the story on a tense phone call with President Donald Trump. Trump reportedly used profanity to tell the Israeli leader to get out of Lebanon. Netanyahu said he will not stop occupying the country.SARA EISEN: Hi. Good morning, Carl, from Jerusalem this morning. I’m here in the Israeli Prime Minister’s office, and joining me right now is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Thank you for having us today.PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL BENJAMIN NETANYAHU: Good to be with you. WelcomeEISEN: Yeah, thank you very much. It’s good to be here. Wanted to start with the news, which is President Trump saying today that Iran has already agreed that it will not have a nuclear weapon. Do you trust that? Is that good enough for you?NETANYAHU: Well, I think it’s a precondition, but you have to make sure that they actually don’t do it because they always lie and they always cheat, and therefore we have to have a way to get out the nuclear material and to dismantle the infrastructure that they have, the enrichment sites for uranium to make atomic bombs. I think all that is on the table, and I think the President believes that he can get this through diplomatic pressure and tough negotiations, and I think he should be given a chance.EISEN: So, let’s talk about the call that you had with him this week, which is getting a lot of attention. The president confirmed that he, that he said, “You’re effing crazy.” How did you react to that? What really happened in that call?NETANYAHU: Well, I’m not going to get into details of our conversations. We’ve had thousands, well, a lot, a lot of them. And if you think this is a crisis, you should be in some other conversations, but we’ve always found a way to, we have so many agreements. We agree on the main things. We want to get Iran, the nuclear program in Iran, finished. We want to make sure that Iran doesn’t pose a threat to Israel, to the Middle East, to America, that it doesn’t develop nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them, not only to Israel and to every capital in Europe, but to every city in the United States. That’s our common goal. That’s what we set out to do, and to expand the circle of peace, as the President and I did in the Abraham Accords together. So, we have common goals. Sometimes we have, as in the best of families, you have these tactical disagreements. We always find a way to work them out, and we do so as great friends. We can disagree in the morning, and by the afternoon, we have common actions.EISEN: So, I was going to say, has your relationship at all shifted with him?NETANYAHU: No, no. This has been, this has been a great relationship because he’s been the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House, and he, he respects me. I respect him. We always find a way to work out our differences.EISEN: Did he say that, that you’d be in jail if not for me?NETANYAHU: Look, I’m not going to get into the details, but he’s been very vocal about the absurdity of this fake trial that I’m going through. You know, they asked me, I don’t know if this came up with the last time you were here, but since then—EISEN: Two years ago yeah.NETANYAHU: Yeah, well, since then they’ve asked me in the court, you know, I’m supposed to be receiving gifts. So one of the first things they said to me is Prime Minister, 30 years ago, your five-year-old child received a Bugs Bunny gift from a friend, so this trial is ridiculous. The President understands what a, what a ridiculous trial it is, and he’s been very vocal about that and I appreciate it. So, but it’s unraveling on its own, it’s just so ridiculous.EISEN: Okay, so I know you’re fighting that, but on the call, what is your expectation for what the president expects from you now when it comes to Lebanon and fighting Hezbollah?NETANYAHU: I think he understands that Lebanon has been taken hostage by Hezbollah. It’s basically taken over the country. It’s an Iranian proxy that puts all the citizens of Lebanon at gunpoint, and uses Lebanon as a platform to launch terror missiles into our cities, to launch killer drones against our civilians, and so if we want to save Lebanon, if we want to get a Lebanese Israeli peace as I do, we have to disarm Hezbollah, and we have to demilitarize Lebanon, and I think that’s a goal that it’s not, I think I know that this is a goal that the President and I share, and that’s what we have to do. So, we, we’re trying to, how shall I say this, degrade Hezbollah, so that a free and independent Lebanon can emerge. We’re still working on it, but we’re on route.EISEN: But did you, did you tell him that you would stop in order to get the peace talks going?NETANYAHU: No, I think what we discussed is something else. They were firing, Hezbollah was firing these terror missiles into our cities. You know, they hide behind their civilians and they fire at our civilians, like Hamas in Gaza. They commit double war crimes, and we are responding, we’re targeting the terrorists themselves. The terrorist chieftains, many of them are in Beirut, so they’re giving orders to target our cities from Beirut, and we said, if you keep on targeting Israeli territory and our cities and our communities, then we’ll take out these terrorist chieftains in Beirut with surgical strikes, and an understanding was seemed to have evolved two days ago, really, that they will not target Israeli territory, and we will not target the terrorists in Beirut.
