FUSD’s board gave the final approval for the fiscal year 2027 budget during its July 7 meeting, following a presentation on the budget during the June 23 meeting.

This year's scores for FUSD showed a continued increase in proficiency in English language arts and math for elementary and middle school students, while ACT scores were similar to those seen in recent years.

Students from Coconino High School, Flagstaff High School, Northland Prep Academy and two from the Phoenix area spent a week attending full-day sessions on NAU’s campus for the first Health Careers Immersion and Skills Camp from its College of Health and Human Services.

According to the 2025-26 Fact Book, NAU has not seen an enrollment change of the size it is projecting for fall 2026 so far in the 21st century.

About half a year after Lowell Observatory’s research restructuring went into effect, more than a third of its tenured scientists have left, with several expressing concerns about their ability to find funding for their work under the new model.

NAU is expecting to start the school year next month with an enrollment that is 2,854 students lower than it had the previous fall.

NAU said it will be starting the school year with around 250 fewer employees than the prior year due to a combination of natural attrition measures and reductions in force intended to help balance the university budget.
