MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Health Department said Friday that they are monitoring an increase in monkeypox (mpox) cases in Midland and the West Texas region.

ODESSA, Texas — The City of Odessa's Parks & Recreation Director, Max Reyes, has been placed on administrative leave, according to the city's Deputy Director of Communications Patricia Perry, in a news release Friday.

The fatal crash happened on North 13th St. around 11:42 p.m. on Thursday.

According to LeSueur, investigators determined the car driver "was not at fault in this crash" based on video evidence and GPS data.

Recently, Equipment Services Director Chris Adams was fired for "unauthorized use of city funds" and Parks and Recreation Director Max Reyes was placed on leave.

Reyes was put on administrative leave during the week of Nov. 11 because of a case that is being reviewed by the district attorney's office.

The car occupied by 18-year-old twins Jaden and Jackie Perkins, and their 16-year-old sister Nautica, was fully engulfed in flames in the head-on collision.

Monica McDaniel with the City of Odessa said Thursday night that a "malicious script was identified and removed."

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Gary Liles," said a spokesperson for Southern Power.

Reeves Regional Health made the announcement Friday about the scam calls they are aware of.
