Two of Revere’s first women city councillors will be permanently honored in the council chambers.

Just over 56 percent of the city’s registered voters cast ballots in last week’s election.

As Chelsea continues to grow, one city councilor wants to take a closer look at building a new fire station somewhere along the waterfront.

Chelsea bicyclists may soon be able to extend their journeys through the city’s Bluebikes program.

The Planning Board unanimously voted to recommend a MBTA 3A Communities Act plan to the town council at a special meeting held at the senior center on Tuesday night.

A massive nine-alarm fire at a former industrial warehouse building in Chelsea closed Revere roads for a time on Monday.

The city council will take up a request by City Manager Fidel Maltez to discuss the possibility of bringing municipal vehicle maintenance in house. At Monday night’s meeting, the council voted to discuss the request at a future meeting of its parks and public works subcommittee. “Our Department of Public Works has a contract with First Vehicle for the preventive maintenance of vehicles in DPW, Schools, and Police Departments,” stated Maltez. First Vehicle currently has two mechanics that are stationed out of the Chelsea City Yard, along with an administrative assistant that handles invoicing and tracking of vehicles. The contract is approximately $600,000 and covers preventative maintenance, and requires larger repairs to be invoiced separately, according to Maltez. “Our Fire Department has a dedicated mechanic that handles all vehicle maintenance,” said Maltez.

A massive nine-alarm fire destroyed an abandoned former industrial building on Forbes Street early Monday morning. Nearly 20 neighboring departments helped knock down the fire. The fire was reported at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, and emergency response teams, including the Chelsea Fire Department, Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, Water & Sewer Division, Cataldo EMS, and the Massachusetts Port Authority were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The School Committee recognized the district’s dozen family liaisons with the Name, Strength, and Story award at its Nov. 14 meeting.
