I want to make something clear from the start—I’m not excited about Bill Belichick as coach for UNC. In the best of scenarios, the Tar Heels will get him for a couple of seasons to establish itself as a player in college football before having to go through this song and dance again. You don’t fire a 72 year old coach to hire a 72 year old coach, and no matter what sort of media rehab he does, the fact is he’s an expensive choice to just try and bring UNC to a competitive place in football.
