About one in four Gen Z and Millennial adults reported using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for financial advice, compared with 7% of Baby Boomers. Boomers were much more likely to consult financial advisors, with 55% doing so versus 14% of Gen Z adults. Overall confidence in AI for financial guidance remains limited, with fewer than three in 10 Americans expressing at least some confidence. The research also found that financially stressed adults were more likely to use AI than financially fulfilled adults. However, financially confident people tended to draw on multiple sources, including professional advisors, personal networks, their own research, social media and AI.
