Justice Chillakur Sumalatha said equality should not come at the cost of either gender.

A division bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice G Basavaraja held that once the statutorily prescribed time limit for action against the deceased has expired, no proceedings can be pursued against the legal representatives.

The petition is filed by one V Srinivas, a resident of Bengaluru.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice NV Anjaria and Justice MI Arun adjourned the hearing after it was submitted that some accommodation is required as senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi will submit the lead arguments in the case.

The bench said the three-member committee shall every six months collect and assess the relevant details from deterrent districts about the number of vacancies of medical staff in different categories, the need for upgrading or further extending the medical infrastructure and medical facilities to the various government hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHC) run by the government.

The complainant said that his daughter R Roja, a MCom graduate, had died by suicide after barely a year of her marriage due to harassment for dowry.

Justice Hanchate Sanjeev Kumar said this while rejecting an appeal filed by an insurance company.

Justice M Nagaprasanna referenced the Supreme Court's ruling in the Kaptan Singh case, asserting that proceedings cannot be halted or dismissed when serious factual disputes remain at the heart of the case.

'The court may require the state authorities to address the implementation of the safety rules for the two-wheeler riders including the pillion riders and number of riders, and the number of persons who ride on such two-wheelers,' the bench said.

The apex Court had stated that all religious structures in public places that have come up after September 2019 will have to be either relocated or demolished.
