What a great week! We gave out a nice VIX trade to our viewers on Thursday’s for Zero Theta and it was paying by Friday. We also gave out a plan of action to follow which in hindsight looks pretty darn good.

Did you like the idea number 1 around the inauguration? That might even set up for a Special Situation going into the 20th but more on that in the future. The second big event should happen a couple of times in 2025 but 2024 exhibited some not normal behavior.

And you now ask how can I “predict” a volatility event? Well I have been in the option game for 35 years as of the end of 2024. A number that is quite nuts to me and to be honest I hope I have a Golden Jubilee in 15 years hence.

Two big numbers are coming out this week. Bigger inflation numbers are already expected.

I grabbed some sweet Peter Lynch quotes so I can get ready to put on my Option Fingerprint hat. What grabbed me about this group of quotes is what they had in common. A stock can always go lower. Keep in mind to beat the S & P 500 the stock only has to go up around 7% per year on average. So a $10 stock needs to go up.70 or a $20 stock up $1.40. Perspective is great.

To be honest, as a list of names they have done very well over the last 4 months and turning an observational trading strategy into a product that will pass our CRT makes me happy and it should make my subscribers happy.

I went live last night to walk through how stocks jump onto my Longshots list of equities that I want to own. Not every stock makes it to an investment but I have to start somewhere. I have to have a list. Stocks need to get on that list.

Stocks loved the CPI numbers this week as traders got set to close the last week of the Biden Administration. Apparently there was plenty of activity for Pres Biden on the ERA and doing his exit message on the growth of Oligarchs. Funny he chose the last week of his presidency to address these long simmering issues but that is that is politics.

1 day in and nothing is really surprising yet for the 2nd term of President Donald Trump. It appears he is going down his list of campaign priorities and crossing them off the list. No surprises mean less volatility and that is how the market is responding so far this week. I think this will be a great stock picking year as some animal spirits keep coming to the fore. Heck even the Ishares Barclays 20+ year government bond ETF (Ticker: TLT) rallied today.

I was laughing with Hannah this morning that the Hon Nancy Pelosi was buying, of all things, LEAPS in some of the Big Tech stocks. She must have known part of the release on the massive spend going into AI over the next few years.
