Over the weekend, Pella Community Ambulance reported completing its final training for the inclusion of Drug Assisted Airway Management into protocols. This means that local medical providers at Pella Ambulance can provide another level of care to community members that need it. Their staff can now assist a patient in critical condition by breathing for them with the assistance of medications, intubation or other types of airway management tools, and using a ventilator or bag valve mask to breath for them.

It was a doubleheader split for both summer teams in Pella as the Dutch competed with Newton in both baseball and softball on Monday. The Dutch boys were 3-1 winners and fell 6-3; the girls dropped the opener 11-10 and won game two 7-0, as heard on the KRLS2 stream.

A golden goal ended the state postseason dreams of the Pella girls soccer team, as the ranked Dutch fell to Bondurant-Farrar in overtime on Tuesday night 1-0. Despite several scoring chances in regulation, the home team also gave several opportunities to the visiting Bluejays. Nearly three minutes into the extra period after a scoreless first 80 minutes, Bondurant-Farrar found an opening at midfield and converted. The loss ends the spring season for Pella High School, with the soccer team wrapping up with an 8-6-3 record.

All area high school students are invited to participate in an educational opportunity to bolster lifelong skills for life after graduation. Teri Vos with the WorkSMART Connector says they are partnering with the PACE Alliacne, Marion County Development Commission, and Drake University for three summer work sessions aimed at bolstering the skills of young people in a variety of categories through The Legacy Project: Career Ready Collective.

The Pella softball team hung on late against Norwalk in a top-ten showdown Wednesday night, winning 9-8, while the Dutch baseball team gave up six runs in the final two innings to fall to the Warriors 10-5, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The 2026 class of interns at Pella Corporation started their summer work with giving back to the community through service. Their experience started Wednesday with projects benefitting both the Care Bags Foundation and Lake Red Rock’s Playscape. Interns were tasked with various projects benefitting both the non-profit organization supporting youth in need and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Tonight is the kick-off to weekly activities on Thursdays in Pella in Central Park. The first theme of 2026 is Level Up your Fun, and features several returning activities from year’s past, including the annual Bike Rodeo. The Pella Cycling Club is offering a safety course as part of the festivities. Entertainment returns on the Tulip Toren, including a balloon artist and Leighton State Bank bingo. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio is broadcasting weekly from Thursdays in Pella.
