GUNTERSVILLE — Tennessee Valley Authority interim CEO Mike Skaggs knows as north Alabama grows in population, so too will the demand for more electricity.

The Guntersville City Council passed a few annual resolutions last Monday regarding the city’s public transportation and Director Lori Kirkland’s annual requests for financial assistance.

It is my contention that there is not nearly enough controls on the millions of tax dollars being spent in cities and counties, especially in our area.

The month of May was wide open for bass fishing. We are in the post spawn phase at Lake Guntersville, and you can hardly go wrong with how you choose to catch the largemouth.

I would like to add my "two cents" in praise of Guntersville Transportation. I'm 83, don't drive anymore, and lately have had multiple appointments for blood tests, infusions and transfusions. I have one appointment scheduled for May and 5 for June.

I just wanted to take a moment and remind voters of the opportunity to vote by absentee ballot for the Primary Election Runoff. You may vote absentee if you meet one of the following criteria and can make sworn affidavit as to the reason:

Duke is a handsome boy that is ready to have the shelter in his rearview mirror. He has overcome the odds and survived after being abandoned, starved, and hit by a car. Although Duke did not have any broken bones from the accident, he still needed time to recover. Now, Duke is ready and very deserving of a second chance with a forever family.
