The heat and humidity are picking up, but the bite on the lake has made them both worth suffering. As of the last week in June, the bass have been schooling in nice groups especially around the deeper bridges. Dropoffs will usually contain good bait fish and the predator fish that eat them. Going old school and dropping a threadfin or gizzard shad beside the columns can be effective in the heat of the day, especially if you have kids trying to experience their first largemouth bass.

The most recent Guntersville School Board meeting had quite the list of personnel shifts as the summer break continues. Several positions, such as school principals and teachers alike, were approved.

Guntersville native and college student Carolyne “Kay” Redmond surprised her friends and community with the news that she has self-published her very first novel, Beyond the Net.

In his superintendent's report at the last Guntersville City School Board meeting, Dr. Brad Cooper touched on summer sports as well as a big personnel shift and a note on the district’s hard work.

At the time of construction start on the drains, the shelter still has four incredible dogs who are looking for either a temporary foster home during the construction or, even better, a forever home of their own.
