FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — After the two recent hurricanes, Helene and Milton, there has been an increase in cases of a dangerous flesh-killing bacteria across Southwest Florida.

Hurricane Milton has left a trail of destruction on San Carlos Island, with debris now spilling out onto Main Street. What was once people's belongings and memories has been reduced to trash lining the streets, as residents and community members struggle to recover.

They say the water breaches the sea wall just from regular high tides, but with the ongoing king tides, they're especially concerned because a massive boat that washed ashore after Hurricane Milton is dangerously close to their homes. This isn't the first time—this exact boat ended up on land here before.
