KIRKWOOD – A portion of the Sierra Nevada is under a Flash Flood Warning due to brief heavy rain and lightning on Saturday afternoon.

After a hot summer stretch, a taste of fall is coming to Northern California to close out the week.

The last few days have been an indication summer is not quite over just yet. Highs in the upper 90s and triple-digits to finish the last week of August.

Tuesday was the first of what's to come over the next few days. Highs reached the upper 90s and triple digits in the afternoon, roughly 5 to 20 degrees above average.

A very persistent ridge of high pressure and a lack of a Delta Breeze has kept temperatures across Northern California this weekend above average.

Without a doubt, it has been a hot start to October. Many records have been set within the first seven days of the month with highs in the triple-digits.

Another quiet, early fall day across Northern California Tuesday with highs in the 70s and 80s. Enjoy the quiet weather before bigger changes arrive Wednesday and stick around through the end of the week.

Fall has finally arrived in Northern California, and the last few days have really shown that the season can offer a variety of weather.

A quick-moving storm was just enough to give us another taste of winter at the beginning of the week as it brought steady valley rain and six inches of snow to the Sierra.
