The other day, truck driver Fitz Francois was nearing the end of a 12-hour shift when a strange noise from within his tractor trailer stopped him in his tracks.

It was a rainy November day in Cleethorpes, England, when volunteers with Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue (CWR) spotted a mute swan in distress. They quickly realized that she was in immense pain from an unfortunate fishing accident.

There’s nothing more serene than trekking through the Amazonian jungle and taking in the diverse wildlife around you — unless you’re a dog named Polar, whose white fur causes an immediate stir as soon as he arrives.

It was a brisk September day when Isabel, a Connecticut resident, ventured out on a routine walk with her sons, Ari and River. As they often did, the trio marched up their long, woodsy road, taking in all the end-of-summer sights and sounds.
