Dima Barch is one of the most promising filmmakers to hit the scene in recent years. Coming on the heels of his previous short film Dead End, he’s back again with a hyper-stylized piece set entirely in a bowling alley. The Power of the Strike combs such influences as George A. Romero, John Waters, Gregg Araki, and Joe Begos while peppering in Barch’s own unique perspective.

In their book A Necessary Death, co-authors Chris Grosso and Preston Fassel navigate “the human experience,” as the cover suggests. Chapter 3 is of particular note, an entry in which Preston and Grosso examine Pennywise from It as the basis for which they detail “embracing yourself and finding your own ‘Losers’ Club’.” As one of the book’s most important chapters, it encourages the reader to discover their own tribe, whether that’s online or in person.

Perception is everything. Filmmakers often toy with reality by unscrewing the story from the unreliable narrator's vantage point.
