Mostly sunny skies are expected today, with highs in the mid-70s. Rain chances increase late tonight when scattered showers and thunderstorms become possible.

A Weather Aware Day is in place for Thursday as the Storm Prediction Center has the area under a Level 1 out of 5 risk for the potential for gusty winds, mainly late in the day.

Much of Saturday will be dry, featuring a good deal of sunshine, but some scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible at times. Highs will get into the mid-70s. Sunday will be a similar day, with lots of sunshine, but a pop-up shower or thundershower possible in the afternoon. Highs will get into the lower 80s. Monday will be the beginning of a major warmup, with a strong potential of multiple days of highs of 90 or warmer through Friday. This heat could become serious for those vulnerable to the heat, including the elderly, young children, and those with respiratory or cardiac issues. Due to this, Weather Alert Days will be in place Monday through Friday. Stay cool!

It may be a stretch to reach 90 Monday, but we’ll definitely at least get well into the 80s, with plenty of humidity. Temperatures right around 90 look like a good bet for Tuesday through Friday, with heat index values potentially reaching 100 degrees. Dry weather is expected for much of the upcoming work week. We’ll have a chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm Friday, with better chances for scattered showers and storms for the Fourth of July. As a warm front pushes through the area, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible late Monday night into Tuesday morning. This will only make things hotter and more humid for the rest of the week. Expect a good deal of sunshine for Tuesday afternoon through Thursday, with highs around 90 degrees. As we head toward Friday, we’ll introduce an isolated shower or thunderstorm to the forecast. Friday still looks to reach around 90. For the Fourth of July weekend, widely scattered showers and storms are possible. It will still be humid, but highs look to cool slightly, back to the mid-80s.
