While air quality will gradually improve today, we’re also tracking the threat for severe weather this afternoon and evening. Strong, damaging winds are the primary threat, though an isolated tornado also can’t be ruled out. Locally heavy rainfall could also lead to isolated flash flooding. Highs today are expected to reach the mid to upper-80s. Mostly sunny skies return for Sunday, with highs cooling to the mid-70s. We’re still mostly sunny on Monday, but chances for showers and storms will increase again Tuesday. Some of these storms could also be on the strong side.

Rain chances should diminish by Sunday afternoon, with cooler highs in the mid-70s. Some areas of smoke are expected with a northerly flow, but air quality is expected to remain in the moderate range. Monday should be a bit warmer, reaching around 80 degrees. Rain chances will increase again late Monday night and there will be the potential for multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms into Tuesday. Some storms may be strong to severe Tuesday afternoon and evening. There is a lot of uncertainty with the severe weather potential at this time, so stay tuned to the latest forecasts! After highs in the mid-80s Tuesday, we’ll cool back to the mid-70s for Wednesday and Thursday. As we head toward Saturday, the weekend looks to start on a mostly sunny note, with highs in the upper-70s.

Partly cloudy skies are expected for Monday, with highs in the mid-70s. Air quality is expected to continue gradually improving. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday, some of which could be strong to severe in the afternoon and evening. Behind a strong cold front, highs will struggle to reach 70 degrees for many areas Wednesday, with breezy conditions and scattered lake-effect rain showers. We’ll start to slowly warm up afterwards to end the week and start the weekend. Right now, the upcoming weekend looks mostly sunny, with highs in the mid to upper-70s. An isolated shower or thunderstorm could reenter the picture Sunday afternoon.

As we head into Monday and especially Monday night, more widespread rain chances will move in and some storms could be strong to severe, with the strongest storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail and the potential for isolated flash flooding. Multiple rounds of storms could move through the area Monday and Monday night, though this will not necessarily be an all-day rain. More scattered activity is expected during the day ahead of a warm front, with better chances overnight Monday night ahead of a cold front. The strongest storms (mainly Monday night) could produce damaging winds, large hail and locally heavy rainfall. The exact timing is still uncertain. If we get more sunshine between rounds of rain, it could help build instability for stronger storms. There will be more rain chances Tuesday and Wednesday, a return to mostly sunny skies Thursday and Friday and then a return to widely scattered rain chances next weekend.

Dry conditions are expected through at least the first half of Saturday. Starting Saturday afternoon and continuing through much of next week, the weather gets rather unsettled. While it won’t be raining all the time every day, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the area. Any storms we see have the potential to produce heavy rainfall, leading to scattered flash flooding. The best chance for heavy rain looks to come Sunday and Sunday night. If we get enough breaks in the clouds to develop instability, we could see a stronger storm with gusty winds Sunday afternoon, but heavy rain looks like more of a threat at this time. Highs will largely be in the low to mid-80s throughout the next seven days but may briefly dip down into the upper-70s Monday.

Look for chances for showers and thunderstorms overnight into Sunday. The best chance of rain will come Sunday afternoon and evening. This will be our greatest opportunity to see very heavy rainfall, which could lead to scattered flash flooding. If we get enough breaks in the clouds in between rounds of rain to help destabilize the atmosphere, we could see a storm develop that could produce gusty winds. Rain chances become more scattered Monday. Highs Sunday and Monday look to be in the upper-70s. Looking at the rest of the upcoming work week into next weekend, there will be daily chances for rain (highest chances Wednesday), with highs in the low to mid-80s.

Showers and thunderstorms will taper off tonight into Monday morning, with mostly sunny skies to follow for the rest of the day into Tuesday. Highs Monday and Tuesday look to reach the upper-70s to lower-80s. Chances to see showers and thunderstorms at times will increase again from Wednesday into next weekend. Highs are expected to be in the low to mid-80s during this time.
