Most of Upper Michigan shouldn’t see a large amount of snow accumulation this weekend, but heavier lake-effect snow bands in the Copper Country and the eastern U.P. could put down isolated areas of six inches or more.

Lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan will combine with clipper system snowfall tonight.

A clipper system will past south of Upper Michigan tonight, brushing the Wisconsin border with snowfall, while we'll also see an increase in scattered lake-effect snow showers late tonight into Wednesday.

Lake-effect snow will continue to add up through Saturday, with bitter cold wind chills in the morning in the western interior.

Isolated lake-effect snow showers are possible tonight. This will be followed by a warmup for Tuesday, with isolated areas of light sleet, snow and freezing rain possible.

As temperatures tumble late Thursday, we could see a flash freeze on area roadways and sidewalks as any rain that fell during the day ices up.

A clipper system tonight into Saturday is expected to bring a widespread 1-3 inches of snow to Upper Michigan. Locally higher amounts are possible in the east.

Expect dry conditions for your Friday night, though some light freezing rain and light rain showers could develop again Saturday.

Scattered rain showers and light freezing rain is possible through early Sunday before precipitation changes to all snow late Sunday.

Precipitation will continue to transition to all snow through the late evening hours.
