Advertisement 2 Article content Five re-sign Mohamed, announce home opener vs. Montreal on Nov. 23 Back to video Head coach and general manager Logan Stutz announced on Friday that 6-foot-3 guard Haroun Mohamed had re-signed with the team for the 2024-25 Basketball Super League season. Mohamed will enter his third season with the Five, but the Toronto product has been a fixture in the Nickel City basketball scene since joining the Laurentian University men's team back in 2017. He is heavily involved in the Five's community efforts, including camps, academies, school visits and other events. “I am very excited to sign Haroun back,” Stutz said in a media release. “I know the community will be excited to see him back, as well. He is a high-character player who is well known in Sudbury and sets a great example in the community for up-and-coming players. Welcome back, Haroun.” Advertisement 3 Article content Mohamed has played in 50 games for the Five over two seasons. He averaged 1.8 points per game over 23 appearances in 2023-24, with a field-goal percentage of 50, three-point percentage of 42 and free-throw percentage of 76.2. “Sudbury, I'm back for Year 3 and excited for this season,” Mohamed said. “The Sudbury community has been great to me and I'm glad to be a part of it. Can't wait for the best fans to cheer us on to a championship. Let's get it.” With a full BSL schedule expected soon and more player signing news to come, Stutz said he was “counting down the days until Nov. 23.” “I can't wait for the season to start,” he said. “The fans and city make basketball in Sudbury great and make me excited to come to work every day to prepare this show for them. “There's always an energy this time of year that carries us into the season. Getting back to a November start means we don't have to wait much longer. McLaren was stretchered out of the venue and spent a couple of months recovering, but returned to the ring at the Valley East Days festival earlier this month in a tuneup for his headlining, no-holds-barred bout at the Caruso show. “We have had a feud that has gone on across Ontario in different promotions,” said McLaren, speaking as the character whose rapid rise through the business has seen him earn nationwide recognition and, last year, a coveted spot in a Canada-wide competition hosted by WWE legend Jacques Rougeau Advertisement 3 Article content Prince, who is best known for his appearances with TNA Wrestling, will look to halt that momentum when to two collide again in Sudbury this Friday. “He even tried to re-break my arm and turn my own brother against me,” McLaren told The Sudbury Star. “I'm looking forward to Project X Wrestling Revenge, which is aptly named, as the Magnum Army and myself are going to get our Revenge on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Caruso Club.” Described as McLaren as “a really stacked card” with well-known names and lots of local content, Revenge features an appearance by Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling standout Marty Scurll, also known as The Villain, who will hit the ring at 365 Haig St. shortly after the scheduled 7 p.m. bell time. Sudbury's own NOVA is also among the featured performers at the event. “Wrestling in Sudbury for me is special,” McLaren said. “I have really gotten to the audience as I like to spend extra time with them and Interact with them on social media and in person at the events. It truly feels like friends and family when I wrestle in Sudbury. We are the Magnum Army and it's a special feeling.” He said he has “grown a lot physically” since his memorable opportunity with Rougeau's Lutte Academie in spring 2023. “My game has expanded tremendously.” Doors will open on Friday at 6 p.m. for VIP ticket holders for a meet and greet with the wrestlers, including Scurll, and 6:30 p.m. for the general public.
