Travis County is getting more money to better fight the opioid epidemic. On Monday, the county was awarded a $1.6 million grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) as part of the FY 2024 Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-Based Program. This funding will support the launch of the Jail-Based Substance Use Intake Program, an initiative aimed at extending care for inmates being released from the Travis County Jail into the community.
