While we enjoy seasonably cool temperatures the next few days, a coastal trough will develop and bring the chance of significant rainfall by the middle of next week.

A developing coastal trough will draw Gulf moisture into South Texas, overrunning cool Polar air to increase rain chances as the coming week progresses

A Polar airmass is over South Texas this weekend, but upper level instability will keep rain chances in place through midday Sunday. After a brief morning warm up, colder air arrives Tuesday.

Gulf moisture is pouring into the Coastal Bend, leading to mostly cloudy and showery weekend conditions. Two fronts visit the region next week, and more significant rain is expected by Wednesday.

Continued influx of low-level Gulf moisture will keep cloudy, humid conditions through early next week. Rainfall will be spotty until midweek, when a strong cold front brings scattered storms.

Temperatures remain near normal through Saturday, but warmth and humidity return next week. A series of disturbances brings isolated to scattered showers and storms, mostly Tuesday night.

Morning fog gave way to clearing, windy and cooler weather this New Years Eve, but clouds will return overnight and temperatures will linger near normal.

Following an early morning cold front, skies cleared and temperatures remained 10 to 15 degrees lower than 24 hours ago. A strong north northeast wind keeps things cool, but clouds return tonight.

While this weekend will stay warm and humid, Arctic air brings the coldest temperatures so far this season by Sunday night. Expect highs in the middle 80s Sunday and wind chill in the 20s Monday.
