Two Brookfield residents are vying for the seat left vacant by former President Dawn Aubert who resigned from the Lyons Township High School District 204 Board of Education because she is moving out of the district.

Martha Ryan-Toye, the superintendent of Riverside Elementary School District 96, has reported that she will be retiring in three years. Last week, the Riverside Elementary School District 96 Board of Education unanimously approved a new three-year contract for Ryan-Toye and disclosed that she will retire when her new contract expires June 30, 2027.

Riverside Elementary School District 96 is expanding its new instructional coaching program. At its April 17 school board meeting, the board of education unanimously approved hiring one additional one instructional coach, to bring the district’s total number to three. The district plans to add another instructional coach in the 2025-26 school year, bringing the number to four.

New leaders are coming to S.E. Gross Middle School.Asst. Principal Jeff Tumpane was promoted and will take the helm July 1. He replaces Ryan Evans, who moves up to a one-year role as deputy superintendent in Brookfield-LaGrange Park District 95. It is expected he’ll take over for retiring superintendent Mark Kuzniewski in 2025.
