CHICAGO (WCIA) — Terrence Shannon Jr. has been dreaming about his chance to play in the NBA for longer than the former Illinois basketball standout can remember. Wednesday night his dream came true when the Chicago native was selected 27th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Shannon Jr. was mobbed by his family and friends at his private party downtown.

SPRINGFIELD (WCIA) — Jackson Buchanan's Korn Ferry Tour debut couldn't have started any better. The University of Illinois rising senior golfer birdied his first five holes at the Memorial Health Championship on Thursday in his opening round at Panther Creek Country Club. When his first seven holes were completed Buchanan was six-under and in the Top 10 of the standings. A double bogey on the Par 3 17th, his eighth hole of the day quickly followed the outstanding start, but the amateur still managed to card a five-under 66. It leaves him tied for 23rd after the opening day of competition.

SPRINGFIELD (WCIA) — Former Illinois golfer Dylan Meyer carded a new professional career low 61 on Friday in the second round of the Memorial Health Championship to shoot up the leaderboard at the Korn Ferry Tour event at Panther Creek Country Club. Meyer sits T-18, posting the second lowest round of the day with a clean card 10 birdies and no bogeys. Meyer makes the weekend for the fourth time in six starts this year on the KFT. Playing with conditional status has been a grind for the former All-American collegiate golfer, trying to get back to a full-time playing schedule.

SPRINGFIELD (WCIA) — Needing a birdie on the last, Max McGreevy had 12 feet to secure his second win on the Korn Ferry Tour and the Oklahoma grad delivered. After bogeying the 17th, McGreevy entered the final hole tied for the lead, but he rallied on the 72nd hole carding a two under 69 to win.
