Austin's hometown hero of the blues Gary Clark Jr. has extended his current tour, which encompasses stops across Texas and a festival appearance in Austin.

A popular West Sixth Street bar is heavily damaged after a fire. On the morning of May 31, Bar Peached was largely consumed by fire, resulting in apparently total damage in the kitchen, along with flooding in the dining room and a massive hole in the roof.

Being the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin is well-positioned to showcase different voices, people drawn to the city for its musical possibilities. This June, two Food Network shows will be highlighting Texas' capital city: Food Network's Top 10 will dive into a local barbecue favorite, and BBQ Brawl will task pitmasters with making dishes that represent local culture.

The proprietors behind this week's food news in Austin really wanted to get things right. That could be a whole food and beverage program launching at once with a new padel club, or a new brunch expanding a Mediterranean restaurant's offerings.
