Mary and Tom Stillman are the recipients of the 2024 Jane and Whitney Harris St. Louis Community Service Award, which recognizes those who contribute to the betterment of the greater St. Louis community.

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis faculty members Mark Rutherford, an associate professor of otolaryngology—head and neck surgery, and Yang E. Li, an assistant professor of neurosurgery and of genetics, each have been awarded grants from St. Baldrick’s Foundation to study pediatric cancers. The foundation’s mission is to improve research on cancer treatments and quality of life for children after treatment ends.

Carla Bailey, director of learning and development for Human Resources at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named one of Women We Admire’s “Top 50 Women Leaders of St. Louis for 2024” for development and delivery of leadership and team-building programs and workshops.

Two professors of radiation oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis — Clifford G. Robinson, MD, and Julie K. Schwarz, MD, PhD — have been named fellows of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). Additionally, Robinson has been elected to the ASTRO board of directors.

Christine Keller, director of career communities and career development at the Center for Career Engagement at WashU, was selected for Focus St. Louis’ fall 2024 Women in Leadership cohort among 34 local leaders.

Will Ross, MD, the associate dean for diversity and the Alumni Endowed Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the 2024 Louis W. Sullivan, MD, Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges. The honor recognizes medical leaders committed to diversifying the health-care workforce.

John Cooper, MD, PhD, the Alan A. and Edith L. Wolfe Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been elected a fellow of the American Society for Cell Biology. This year, Cooper was one of 17 across the country whose nomination was approved by the society’s council.

Mark S. Wrighton, chancellor emeritus and the James and Mary Wertsch Distinguished University Professor at WashU, has been named to Ingram’s Magazine’s list of 50 power players and leaders in business.
