EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Heat continues to build through Tuesday, with dangerous conditions peaking this afternoon. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 11 AM until 7 PM, and heat index values of 107–115 are expected for many communities. Limit time outdoors, drink water often, and check on those without reliable cooling.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - We’ve got one more day of summer heat before a cold front arrives tonight, bringing a noticeable cooldown and lower humidity for Wednesday and Thursday. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM with peak heat indices 100–106. The better severe storm threat stays east of our viewing area, but an isolated storm can’t be ruled out late this afternoon/early this evening.

Drier air means little to no heat index: humidity falls to around 55% this afternoon and near 48% Thursday afternoon, with just a few thin cirrus clouds overhead.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The month of August is starting on a highly unusual note across the Tri-State, trading typical late-summer swelter for a distinct, autumn-like breeze. High temperatures on Saturday struggled to climb, hovering more than 10 degrees below normal alongside spotty, passing showers.

We begin the workweek with a bit more sunshine. Monday brings brighter skies, though daytime heating will spark some isolated afternoon thunderstorms. High temperatures will begin with a slow climb back into the low-to-mid 80s. Severe weather is not expected. The normal high temperature in early August is 90-degrees.
