That easterly flow brings heat-relief along with higher humidity and better chances for showers and thunderstorms. Strong and gusty canyon winds kick in Friday night into Saturday morning and again Saturday evening into Sunday morning. Those winds bring higher humidity and will also drop temperatures from the upper-90s Saturday to the upper-80s by Thursday of next week. The high pressure heat dome remains north of New Mexico, and the clockwise flow around the ridge of high pressure resembles a reverse monsoon flow for New Mexico. As that monsoon moisture climbs, so too will chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms as well as flooding threats.
