Amarillo has already tied a heat record at 102° for our Thursday afternoon, and we may still get warmer. High heat continues for the rest of today, and a little into Friday and Saturday with a few caveats! But either way, being staying hydrated, and give yourself ways to stay cool in this brutal heat.
We're still on track to see some thunderstorms forming up parallel with US 60, but just to the north of that line. Said storms should move slowly along a south/southeasterly track and bring chances of strong gusts and heavy rain. Hail should be on the smaller side. Storms fizzle out as we head into the overnight period.
We're just barely below 80° as we start your Monday morning, and that means our afternoons can, and likely will be that much hotter. Winds will be out of the south at around 10-20 mph, and daytime highs will be topping out around 105° plus for many of us, marking one of the hottest days we've seen in some time.

As we're waking up this Wednesday morning, we're still seeing some spotty storms along a breezy outflow boundary racing south from overnight storms up north! These ought to fizzle out by sunrise this morning, setting us up for more heat. High's will be back in the 100°+ range again.

We've hit 100° again for your Thursday afternoon, however it's not as hot as it could be! We'll see 90°s as we head into the evening hours with low 70°s overnight. Storms are trying to build in northeast New Mexico, we'll watch to see how far into the region they can make it. Expect brief rains, some lightning and gusty winds with any storms.

We're seeing some spotty thunderstorms, along with some building activity off in New Mexico as we head into your Friday evening! That line building to our west will be the main event for rain as we go into tonight, with most of our west/southwest counties being in the best spots for heavier rains.
