Neighbors say two women died as they screamed for help as their mobile home burned in the tiny community of Edison, east of Bakersfield on Sunday.

Posted: Updated: BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A neighbor told 17 News Tuesday he saw two men outside a trailer home on Edison Highway and set it ablaze with two people trapped inside, ultimately killing them.

“I’m going to CAPK to make food boxes for those in need,” said Jude Cheshire.

Christmas Tree recycling programs are underway in Kern County.

“It’s going to be a hard hit for everybody,” said Tina Franco, who has been getting food from the pantry for five years.

Community members believe now is the time to warn others.
