Well, folks, elections have been certified and if you voted one way or another because you are unhappy with your current condition, then chances are your life is going to continue sucking out loud – lest you make profound positive changes or quiet down about national politics and join me in applying pressure to our city council for changes that will actually affect your life almost immediately.

I commend Assemblyman Chris DeMaio for speaking about what is really going on behind closed doors, (“How new California Assembly members are taught how to duck accountability” published Dec. 23), however most of us had at least an inkling that politicians pretty much do as they please and are accountable to the highest bidder. And it isn’t just in the state Assembly. His proposed reforms should be for all branches of goverment, state and federal.

Each year, the Stanislaus Community Foundation and its partners award over $300,000 in scholarships to more than 150 local students through our Scholarship Program. The program offers financial assistance to Stanislaus County residents pursuing higher education at an accredited college, university, or vocational college through multiple scholarship funds. S cholarships have been established by generous donors, including individuals, families, organizations, and businesses.
