Hammer forming is a really fun and cool metal shaping technique that involves using a couple pieces of sheet material, which can be wood, or metal, to make a pattern template that can be followed with either hand tools or a power hammer like is being used in this video. We’ve shared other hammer forming videos before, as Karl Fisher at Make It Kustom is a big fan of the technique, but this one here is from someone new to us, a little channel called Outcast Customs. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who want to “build” a 400 horsepower LS engine, when you can easily make that with a junkyard engine and some bolt-ons. But what if you wanted to make 500 horsepower? That’s not a big deal with any LS engine if you use a little toot of nitrous or some boost. But if you want to go with an NA combo you are going to have to build something bigger, like a 6.0 or larger. For the sake of argument, lets say you had a 4.8 laying around and wanted to see what you could do with it.

I don’t know what it is about us car people, but we are the WORST about estimating the time it will take to finish a project. I mean horrible! At least when it is our own project at any rate. Ever notice that if you are going to do your own LS swap, you estimate that it will take a weekend. If it is your buddy’s LS swap, you estimate it is going to take them several weekends. I don’t get it, but I know it to be true, and this video here is proof as Alex Taylor has done the same thing in this latest update on her cool shop, aka Alex Taylor Racing Headquarters.

It’s time for the FIA European Finals at Santa Pod. This is the biggest “National Event” of the year at Santa Pod and features most all the classes you have come to know and love at the national level here in the United States. I’ve said it multiple times this year, but Santa Pod has some amazing events and I really want to come over and check one of them out next year. When my buddy Jeff Lee at ET Enterprises found a couple of interesting engines on Facebook Marketplace, and then had to share all the info with a group chat we’re in, I cursed him. I know these engines aren’t new, and that there have been some people talking about them in the swap world, but the reality is that these things aren’t a real commonly considered option for most folks. But since I can’t stop thinking about every car and truck I want to work on, I watched his video and then things only got worse. Thanks a lot dude. Thanks.
