Las Vegas odds makers had the University of Louisville basketball team favored by 1.5 points going into a game against Notre Dame on Wednesday night. Apparently the Irish had somehow made a worse impression on them than the Cardinals in recent outings. Not that a lot of people were betting on this cellar dweller contest in the Atlantic Coast Conference, so nobody lost much money on this one. Notre Dame prevailing by 22 points in a 72-50 romp over the Cardinals.UofL Coach Kenny Payne praising the Irish for all the things that he has been unable to instill in his team. "Their energy, their effort, their focus, their attention to detail, their toughness, all those things were superior to ours," he said in the post game news conference. "At the end of the day, we're trying to get these kids to understand how hard they have to fight."

Unless destiny continues to be cruel to the University of Louisville basketball program, the end of the Kenny Payne era may have finally arrived Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center. No doubt about the outcome of the game, still another loss, the 23rd of the season in a string of continued disappointments.There are no guarantees that Coach Kenny Payne will be fired before Wednesday. No guarantees either that he won't be back. If he makes it through the week, the nightmare that began two years ago will continue indefinitely.Louisville lost to Boston College 67-61 for the team's second loss to the Golden Eagles this season.

A little better, not much, for the University of Louisville baseball program during the 2024 season. The team winning 32 games overall, one more than during the previous season. Not cool for a program that was averaging more than 45 wins per season and competing in five different College World Series in Omaha.
