Like other states in the South-east, Anambra State has witnessed increased attacks by gunmen in recent years.

“During interrogations, (one of) the suspects claimed to be a sergeant and a serving member of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos but later denied his earlier claim,” the police said.

NAFDAC said the fake products included beverages, carbonated drinks, wines, spirits, vegetable oils, and revalidated food items such as noodles, powdered milk, and yoghurt.

Like other states in Nigeria's South-east, security has deteriorated in Imo State with frequent attacks by armed persons.

The latest development occurred days after over 35 people, mostly children, died during a stampede at a carnival in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria's South-west.

Many people were killed on Saturday during the stampede in the community.
