PACOLET — Belinda Casper has lived in Pacolet most of her life and she's never experienced something quite like Tropical Storm Helene , which has left many of her neighbors without power days after striking the Upstate.

GAFFNEY — Poised for growth, the city's fire department will likely bring on more firefighters over the next five years to help battle fires and provide assistance to other departments in Cherokee County when needed.

CARO-Mi Dining Room in Tryon, N.C., sustained damage from flooding caused in September by Tropical Storm Helene and was forced to close. It was founded in 1945.

Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery at 197 E. St. John St., first opened in 2015 and since has become part of the growing craft beer scene in Spartanburg and plans to move.

A special election will be held Dec. 31 to fill a seat on the Gaffney City Council. Titus Dawkins was removed from the seat since he did not live in the city.

The former Timken Plant in Gaffney was sold for $16.5 million. A Chinese-based company plans to produce lithium iron phosphate for batteries at the plant soon.

PACOLET — A new shop featuring subs and salads has opened near the former historic train depot site in Pacolet as the town continues to draw new business on West Main Street.

Most of the trails damaged by Helene in Spartanburg County have reopened. The Cottonwood and River Birch trails sustained significant damage from flooding.
