Out now on AppleTV+, The Last of the Sea Women is a brilliant documentary. Set in Jeju Island in South Korea, the film introduces the audience to the Haenyeo, a declining community of women who collect seafood to feed their communities. It is a tough job that involves them diving in the ocean for many hours in the day, which empowers them both personally and financially. However, the Haenyeo communities are now at risk as no young people are joining and willing to take on this work. At the same time, the threat that climate change poses to the ocean also represents a significant issue for these women.
