Human slave Jason Vance lives a harrowing life on the road in the service of his two musical cybernetic overlords, GTRBOT666 and DRMBOT0110. All three make up the fantastic act Captured! by Robots, and performance portmanteau of the Terminator and Chuck E. Cheese’s Munch’s Make Believe Band. The music is loud and rad, and the show is a delight, which is why it sells out every time the group rolls through town, which they are doing tonight at Siren’s Song Tavern at 8 p.m.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is an annoying band name to say or write out, but the group has done something which I find impressive by wrestling the massive festival fanbase away from the sclerotic jam bands who have dominated the touring live music scene for basically my entire life. This Australian microtonal collective also makes a lot of records and songs, many of them quite new and good. If you’d like to have a gander for yourself without paying a ton of money or being trapped in the pungent purgatory of the festival experience, the Shanty is showing a free live stream of the band’s set from Field of Vision Fest tonight at 7 p.m.

Robert Henry and the Repeaters are a country act from Portland, Oregon, that incorporates all the best parts of swing and honky tonk to kick up a good time like a pack of dust devils. Not only are they rolling through town, but they’re playing at the Logger Bar, one of the best venues for this type of commotion. The fun starts around 9 p.m., and the door is a mere $5.

If you have ever wondered what kind of magic lurks in our local electro music scene, you could hardly hope for a better showcase than tonight’s shindig in the Swan Room at the Shanty at 8 p.m. Elegant Humanoid, Hudson Glover and Shiny Eyes all represent both the best and most diverse examples of that magic place where human expression meets sine waves and amplified sound to create new color wheels for the ears of the soul. Seriously, this is a fantastic line-up and it don’t cost nothing but your time, for which you will be paid back and then some.

The Rumba Madre may have started in Nashville, but the group is anything but another commercial country beerfart. The fellas play a hodge podge of punk, cumbia, reggaeton and dirty South trap bangers with a fluid beauty that must be heard to be understood. Returning to HumCo after not too long from their last show is a wise move, too, and with the students back in town, it’s a perfect night for any members of the youth of today to enjoy a fantastic show. Pile on local openers Brain Dead Rejects, Something Wicked and Lovefest, and you have something transformative for the all-ages crowd who choose the good path and roll through Moss Oak Commons tonight at 6 p.m. ($10).

MaMuse is a folk and soul revival act that began as a collaboration between musicians Sarah Nutting and Karisha Longaker in the deep end of 20 years ago in the rambling corridors of our home state that are leafier than they are paved. The two have since grown to a quartet, and are currently touring on their seventh album This is the Venue, which was released last week and is available on Bandcamp and elsewhere. If you are unfamiliar with the group and are looking for some harmonic healing via the airflow and vibrations that meet between the human voice and acoustic instruments when they are pushed to the same poetic purpose, come over to the Arcata Theatre Lounge at 6 p.m. It’s a seated type of show and, depending on your devotion to a VIP spot for the experience, tickets will run you from $45 to $65.
