Day one of the 123rd Ackley Sauerkraut Days was mostly washed away due to rain, but day two on Friday was perfect. Even on Thursday there were things to happen. A few kids participated in Chalk the Walk, and the Straightback Chair Bluegrass Band found a corner of the Ackley American Legion to play. But Friday everything was back on schedule, including the traditional free sauerkraut and wieners feed, the crowning of Little Mister Ackley Brooks Oelmann, Little Miss Ackley Delaney Dix, Miss Ackley runner-up Carli Lyon, and Miss Ackley Morgan Woodley. The midways was also full, as was Victory Park as 80s tribute band Grind played the bandshell. Today, Saturday, offers even more as the festivities come to a close tonight. The FFA Petting Zoo, pedal tractor pull, Kraut Pub, and Chamber Food Stand all kick off at 11 with the midway open at noon. A cribbage tournament starts at 12:30 p.m., BINGO at 1:30 p.m., the Grand Parade honoring Ackley Legion veterans begins at 6 p.m. Bandshell entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. with Jesse Calvert, with headliner Junk FM of Minneapolis taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. Enjoy the photos so far in the gallery at
