Texans do have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, despite food prices being up. Gas prices remain low and have been trending down for the past several weeks. AAA now has the statewide average for regular unleaded at $2.69 per gallon, 10 cents less than a year ago and nearly 40 cents below the national average of $3.08 per gallon. Houston's average is even better, at $2.62 per gallon. "We've seen gasoline demand decrease and supply levels have risen, and so that's really putting us in a good place for relatively lower prices at the pump in the days to come," says Doug Shupe with AAA Texas.

It's no surprise that liberal Democrat mayors and governors are attacking President-elect Donald Trump's plans for mass deportations, vowing not to cooperate with the administration. Now, even liberal economists are pouring cold water on Trump's plan. The president of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve recently told CBS'Face the Nation that mass deportations of illegal aliens would likely disrupt the labor supply for some businesses. With new car prices at an all-time high and interest rates still near historic highs, it's getting harder and harder to buy a new vehicle. At the same time, a growing number of Americans can't even pay off their old one. A new report finds about one-third (31%) of car loans are now underwater, meaning they owe more than the vehicle is worth. For vehicles purchased since 2022, about 4-in-10 have negative loan equity.
