This year’s festival begins with Foundations of the Arkansas Underground, an event designed to pay homage to the influence of bygone Natural State acts and musicians like Substance, Living Sacrifice, Sickshine, 2 Minutes Hate and Mike “Burger” Scoggins, all of whom will be honored through tribute performances.

The rudimentary yet strikingly recognizable work of New York artist Keith Haring is ubiquitous. An exhibition dedicated to a lesser-known side of Haring — his three-dimensional art — opens this weekend at Crystal Bridges in Bentonville.

Set in an in-home beauty shop in the late 1980s, the Arkansas Repertory Theatre's production of "Steel Magnolias" is zippy, hilarious and poignant.
