Their debut album Ash Blind in 2022, has seen the band’s already muscular and powerful sound shift towards a style that is much more avant garde, atmospheric and jarring. This not only makes the Helsinki four piece one of the strongest progressive acts within the genre, but also one of the premier acts within the emerging dissonant death metal sound, providing a much sharper and impactful take on that styles discordant and gnarled approach.

Born out of more depressive, darker reaches of Poland’s black metal scene, ODIUM HUMANI GENERIS have slowly been developing their bleak, mid-paced sound ever since the release of their debut demo, Zmora, in 2018. The band’s debut album, Przeddzień, in particular showcases a stark and sombre sound that touches upon DSBM without fully embracing it, lending them a sound that is not only influenced by that style and second wave black metal, but also elements of post-rock at times.

Lost And Serene, the debut album by American/German duo CARESSING MISERY, is an album steeped in a deep appreciation for all things gothic rock and metal. With both JULIAN AUST and ZAC CAMPBELL having musical pasts heavily entrenched within these styles, a collaboration between the two was sure to produce some impressive music. The pairs first outing as a band certainly showcases plenty of textbook examples of gothic rock/metal, and proudly wears its influences prominently, but it also boasts some extremely impressive and stunning tracks within it that hint that they are tentatively forging ahead with a sound that’s distinctly their own, making this an intriguing opening gambit for CARESSING MISERY.
