Partnerships are foundational when it comes to developing and enhancing Holmes County’s economic picture, and on Monday, Dec. 9, the Holmes County Board of Commissioners met with a pair of leaders from the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau to discuss their ongoing partnership heading into 2025.

In today’s world where it seems as though bitterness and anger rent out space in every corner of social media, where resentment and hatred find their way into everyday life at no end, and when peace and joy are often difficult to obtain, it may behoove people to take a moment to quiet their hearts this Christmas season and be grateful for a story that took place 110 years ago.

During its weekly meeting on Monday, Dec. 23, the Holmes County Board of Commissioners plowed through a series of year-end paperwork.

File Olympic ice carver Aaron Costic’s crew at Elegant Ice will provide the upcoming Mohican Winterfest with plenty of ice carving action, work that includes chain saws, blow torches and plenty of interaction between Costic’s crew and attendees.

Holmes County residents and commercial business owners will see a slight uptick in their sewer rates in 2025, marking the first time in more than a decade the rates will have been raised.

File Classic in the Country XXII Jan. 18-20 is slated to once again bring plenty of fans, some great high school girls basketball action, fine food, and the promotion of unity and togetherness among all people to Hiland High School for what should be an entertaining weekend over Martin Luther King Day.

Submitted Hiland baseball will host its annual pasta dinner in the high school cafeteria prior to the Hawks’ basketball game with the Garaway Pirates on Friday, Jan. 24.

File The Holmes County Chamber & Tourism Bureau is inviting tourism businesses along with any business involved in building, furniture, financing and other business realms to join them for the upcoming Great Big Home & Garden Show.
