2027 will arguably see the biggest shake up in MotoGP since 2007, when the series dropped capacity from 990cc to 800cc and changed tire regulations. Next year, we reduce engine capacity from 1000cc to 850cc, lose the ride-height devices, reduce aerodynamics, and switch from Michelin to Pirelli as official tire supplier.

It's been just over a year since Liberty Media completed their purchase of Dorna. But apart from rebranding Dorna as MSEG, MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, what changes have we really seen? Have they made MotoGP worse, or found ways to improve it? Neil, David and Adam discuss what impact the sale of MotoGP has had on the sport and on the paddock. What should Liberty be doing to improve MotoGP, and what are we most afraid that Liberty will do to the sport? While MotoGP riders have been relaxing on their boats, and I have been engaged in my annual struggle wrestle my taxes into submission, there has been little of consequence to report on. But with the MotoGP paddock set to assemble once more at Silverstone in just over a week, a few items of genuine newsworthiness are starting to emerge. So to get ready to head into the last weekend without a MotoGP race, here's a quick round up of news.

In many ways, Silverstone is the anti-Sachsenring. The Sachsenring is a short, tight, narrow track with a lot of elevation change that produces incredibly boring racing, yet draws a massive crowd. Silverstone is one of the best motorcycle racing tracks on the planet: long, fast, wide, challenging, a place where the rider can make a difference. It may be flat, but it has produced some spectacular racing over the years. And yet Silverstone struggles to pull in the fans.

I will admit to having a bit of a jaded view of pre-event press conferences. That is perhaps because I have seen so many of them. But also because by the time I arrive in the press conference, along with the rest of the media, we have just spoken to 19 other riders during their media debriefs, and had our brains fried in the process. Alex Marquez has topped the first session of a dry and sunny practice session for the MotoGP class at Silverstone. The Gresini Ducati rider was fast from the start and laid down an impressive pace. Marco Bezzecchi ended the session in second, nearly two tenths behind the Gresini rider, and ahead of Pedro Acosta. Acosta had crashed on his second run, but swapped to his second KTM and then went out to set a much faster lap to jump up into third spot.
