How do you stop a racing motorcycle as you hurtle toward a corner at well north of 350 km/h? Most MotoGP fans will quote the old Kevin Schwantz adage: "See God, then brake", most famously (and incorrectly, as Mat Oxley explains here ) applied to the epic last-lap overtake on Wayne Rainey at Hockenheim in 1991. In other words, you wait until the last minute and then jam on the brakes as hard as possible.

Heavy rain on Friday morning left the track very wet, and drying as the morning progressed. By the time the MotoGP grid took to the track, there was a very clear dry line and on a very damp track. That persuaded several riders to sit out the first five or ten minutes, among them the returning Marc Marquez.

Nicolo Bulega's domination of the WorldSBK class continues at the Motorland Aragon circuit. The Aruba.it Ducati rider took pole once again, setting a time nearly half a second faster than his teammate, Iker Lecuona. Alberto Surra made it a Ducati front row lockout, the Motocorsa Ducati rider just a fraction slower than Lecuona, and a few hundreths faster than Sam Lowes on the Marc VDS Ducati. Lowes sits ahead of his brother Alex on the bimota, while Lorenzo Baldassarri rounds out the second row.
