COTTONWOOD — As the St. John Bosco Academy girls’ volleyball team gears up for the fall season, head coach Jamie Johnson is optimistic about the blend of seasoned veterans and fresh talent on her roster. Entering her fourth year as head coach for the Patriots, Johnson believes this could be a standout year for the team.

GRANGEVILLE — It’s the second year for Grangeville Cross-Country, still a young team, but coming into the fall season with some experienced runners and two new coaches set to push

Football fans got a preview of the fall season last Friday, Aug. 23, at the jamboree held at Clearwater Valley High School. Four teams participated in the jamboree — Clearwater Valley Rams, Prairie Pirates, Lewis County Eagles and the Tri-Valley Titans — that was a controlled scrimmage in three rounds.

Josh Huff, Jamie Oliver, Philip Kaufman and Chris Brannan represented AgWest at the Aug. 24 presentation. From street vendors to event organizers, the comments were about the large numbers of attendees for the 88th annual Kamiah BBQ Days, Aug. 29-31. Both sides of Main Street were packed for Saturday's parade, crowds from which funneled to downtown events including the cornhole tournament, auction, chamber-sponsored dinner, karaoke at the casino, quilt show and skate park competition. Evening attendance was also reported high for the weekend's CVRA rodeo.

GRANGEVILLE — Recreational offerings will see changes in the coming year, as part of new fees approved by the Grangeville City Council last week in its adoption of the fiscal year 2025 budget.
