Hickory Hollow will be playing at the Lake Toxaway Community Center Friday. Aug. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dinner sounds really tasty: pork loin chops with apple compote, mashed potatoes with gravy, fresh corn-on-the-cob and broccoli cornbread. Come early so you pick out your favorite dessert. The meal also comes with iced tea, lemonade or coffee. Adult meals are $14, $26 for couples, $ 8for children 12 and under, and children 3 and under are free. Dinner is served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you have been waiting to come to the Lake Toxaway Community Center for Friday night dinner and music, this Friday would be a great time to come.

Amigos will be playing for the first time this Friday, Aug. 23 at the Lake Toxaway Community Center. They perform songs from the 1960s and 70s with occasional bluegrass numbers. Amigos features Rob Roberts on guitar and vocals, Graham Cooper on bass and vocals,Sara Laidlaw on lead vocals, Dan Cooper on lead guitar and vocals and Miguel de Jesus on percussion. Their performance will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

BARGAIN BARN I always enjoy stopping by the Bargain Barn on Friday nights to check out what new items they have on display. It is such a fun place to shop and they have such great deals on everything. Help support the Lake Toxaway Community Center and have fun shopping at the same time. You never know what you will find.

Each year Lake Toxaway’s largest fundraiser brings our community together for two days of fun for the entire family. It is also a time to celebrate our area’s rich history.

Join us for a Toxaway Old Time Tradition of Christmas in the Little Building Friday, Dec. 13. We will have our Friday night potluck with turkey provided by the community center. Please bring a side dish or a tasty dessert to share with the entire group. Drinks and utensils will also be provided. Bring the children and grandchildren out as there will be goody bags for the children and quite possibly a special visitor in a red suit with a white beard. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. Please pass the word out to your friends and family. The building will be decorated and it will be a fun night for all.

There was a presentation of the quilt to retiring Fire Chief Carmon West by the Toxaway Quilt Group and the Toxaway Community Center.
