Amazon has offered $5 million each to Madison and St. Clair townships if they will allow the controversial 600-acre annexation by Trenton for the massive data center development to go through without objection.

The 600-acre annexation of land by Trenton for a massive Amazon data center hit a partial roadblock this week after Madison Twp. trustees agreed to object to the annexation, which triggers a hearing before the Butler County commissioners.

Despite a $10 million enticement from Amazon not to object to a 600-acre annexation, two small Butler County townships stood their ground, saying supporting their residents was more important than money.

Both Ohio gubernatorial candidates are light on details regarding their plans to give to property taxpayers relief, but it appears Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s plan could cost southwest Ohio governments and schools roughly $609.8 million collectively and statewide nearly $4.6 billion.

Butler County is poised to invest an initial $15 million in the Butler County Regional Airport to clear a path for it to “become not only an economic anchor, but an economic engine.”

Butler County is allotted 113 vouchers but she said they are currently able to serve nearly 130 households by helping people find jobs and or access income through the Social Security system.

Voters in several Butler County communities can now decide whether they want to support various property tax levy requests on the Nov. 3 ballot based on how much it will cost them personally.

Butler County commissioners recently told altafiber officials the company’s two-year delay of a project to bring high-speed internet countywide, was unacceptable, but stopped short of cancelling the $10 million project.
