Just like a time machine for designs, versioning lets teams trace their steps, understand why changes were made, and recover quickly if something goes wrong.

Bad workflows can feel like being stuck in traffic. Everyone’s ready to move, but no one knows what’s holding things up. Engineering data is like a recipe’s list of ingredients. On its own, a specification, drawing, or simulation doesn’t feed much insight. Good governance in engineering might not be exciting, but it is every bit as necessary as tightening bolts to the right torque. Ignoring it risks far more than paperwork delays. Governance defines how data is retained, accessed, and verified throughout its lifecycle, and that structure keeps large engineering organizations both compliant and consistent as they scale.

The way organizations manage engineering data is changing from a single, central repository to a flexible, interconnected system.
