Governance defines how data is retained, accessed, and verified throughout its lifecycle, and that structure keeps large engineering organizations both compliant and consistent as they scale.

The way organizations manage engineering data is changing from a single, central repository to a flexible, interconnected system. Instead of every document or model living in one database, federated content models connect multiple sources into a cooperative network. In this model, information stays where it originates but can still be searched, linked, and governed as part of a unified environment. It’s a shift that mirrors how engineering itself works.
