The Chinook Rod and Gun Club (CR&GC) recently received official notice that they have been awarded a $28,447 Shooting Range Grant from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP). CR&GC spokesperson Joe Kennedy-Zarn explained the program and how the matching funds grant might be used.

Havre Trails is seeking volunteers for their Summerfest event. Anyone who would like to help is encouraged to contact the organization by July 29.

Blaine County residents packed the Blaine County Library's meeting room at 7:00 p.m. on July 22. The meeting's purpose was to host a public hearing by the Blaine County Commissioners (Commission) as the Blaine County Historical Foundation (BCHF) presented their proposal to acquire the Blaine/Wells Fargo Bank Building and then to donate it to the Blaine County Museum for use as its new facility.

The Sugarbeeter Foundation recently received a generous donation from the Davies Family Endowment. Perhaps because of its symbolism, the gift stands apart. For 93 years, Chinook High School has been making Sugarbeeters out of the Davies family.

Five Havre organizations have come together to launch what they hope becomes an annual event. The Stuff the Bus school supply drive and Back to School Bash are two collaborative events designed to help local K–12 students and families across the Hi-Line prepare for the upcoming school year.

Since its formation this past April, the Harlem Improvement Committee (HIC) has been moving forward with some measure of success. Chair of the HIC, Darwin Zellmer shares an update.

The Montana Constitution Roadshow will make a stop in Chinook on August 24. Presented by Upper Seven Law, event organizers invite area residents to join them at the Blaine County Library from 4:00-5:00 p.m., for what is being described as “an engaging discussion about one of Montana's greatest achievements—our Constitution.”

Hosted by the Scobey Stingrays at the Roseland Park Pool, the 2026 Eastern Divisional Swim Meet took place on July 25–26 in Scobey, Montana. At that event, three Chinook Lions Swim Team members were honored. In addition to participating in a Parade of Athletes, Kolton DePriest, Walter Schoen, and Lotus Taly joined in the Senior Recognition Walks. To close out their season, the three seniors swam their final races at the State Swim Meet in Plentywood on August 1-2.

In his eighth year as a member of the North Chinook Boosters 4-H Club, Beau Elias works a regular schedule with his steer Moose. An animal from Elias Ranch, Moose is a Black Baldy, which is a cross between a Hereford cow and an Angus bull in this case.

Tonight, August 5 at 6:00 p.m., the Montana Actors Theatre (MAT) will hold pre-season auditions in the MSUN/MAT Theatre on the campus of MSU–Northern. The play for which the auditions will be conducted is No Sex Please, We're British.
