With a golf theme, Turner High School held their prom on Saturday, April 25 in the Turner Public School Gym. Following dinner at six and pictures at seven, the Grand March took place with a parade of gowns and glam.

With the school elections behind us, the Sugarbeeter Foundation considered the timing right to make a big announcement. The group has secured the aid of grant writer Krista Munson Hertz, a 1993 graduate of Chinook High School.

That could be a reference to the opening or blossoming of flowers and trees, a common occurrence throughout the month in the Northern Hemisphere. Although other theories exist about April's naming, the month is notable for celebrating a variety of events, including Easter, Earth Day, and Meadowlark Elementary School's Students of the Month.

Busses were due to arrive at South Faber Reservoir near Cleveland around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14 for Kids' Fishing Day. Sponsored by the Chinook Rod and Gun Club, this annual event typically draws youth from Chinook, Harlem, Zurich, Cleveland, and Bear Paw Schools. However, with driving rain falling early in the morning and 50 mph wind gusts at 7:00 a.m., Elmer Zarn made the decision to cancel.

'Tis the season. For school field trips, that is. May is the peak of student travel time, not only because of warmer weather and clearer roadways in Montana but often in order to end the school year on a high note. Educators and their students from both Meadowlark and Zurich Elementary Schools have taken field trips this month. With these engaging excursions, the groups are celebrating a year of study while also capturing many topics of the curriculum so as to deepen understanding.

The Montana 250th Commission recently announced the recipients of its Event Sponsorship Program. Among the forty organizations who received funding was the Blaine County Fair.

Although earlier this month Zurich students travelled east on the Dinosaur Trail, first graders at Meadowlark Elementary School in Chinook ventured west on May 20. They attended the Depot Museum in Rudyard. Additionally, fifth graders toured Havre Beneath the Streets.

Student Council President, Bridget Reed welcomed everyone to the Turner Public School Athletic and Academic Awards Night festivities on Monday, May 11. In celebration of achievement, both academic and extra-curricular awards were presented.

Under the guidance of their teacher Ms. Emily Scofield, every year the third graders at Meadowlark Elementary School complete a science unit on ecology that culminates in a biome project. Upon completion of their learning, which included a three-week research and create phase, the group presented their biomes in mid-April.

To take advantage of their newly renovated track, Turner Public School hosted a Track and Field Day for K-5 elementary students on Tuesday, May 12. Dodson, Zurich, Whitewater, and Turner Colony students competed in the event, which began at approximately 10:00 a.m. As the clock neared 1:45 p.m., winners received recognition.
